Meg kept a red net on two pegs by the shed. The light net helped protect a young plant bed. One hot day, the net was not on the pegs. It rested at the end of the bed.

Meg inspected the wet ground. Both pegs still stood, but one had bent. A line of wet marks led from the shed. A hose had been left beside the bed.

A small split in the hose sent out a thin jet. When the tap was on, the jet hit the light net. The wet net slipped from the bent peg. Each new spray pressed it farther across the bed.

Meg shut the tap and fixed the split. She reset the net with stronger pegs.
