Short U word family

-um Words

/สŒm/ โ€” words that share the -um pattern

The -um family combines central short U with final /m/. The lips close only for the ending consonant.

How the -um family works

Keep the ending -um together, then add or change the beginning sound. Read through the whole word from left to right instead of guessing from its first letter.

1Read the ending-um /สŒm/
2Add the beginningh + -um
