Why this site exists

I am a Chinese person living in Canada. Living and working in an English-speaking environment has made the value of clear English communication very real to me.

Speaking fluent, understandable English matters. For learners who carry an accent from another language, building a foundation in standard pronunciation can make everyday communication feel more confident and less stressful. That foundation begins with the smallest building blocks: vowel sounds, consonant sounds, simple words, and the patterns that connect them.

I created Short Vowel Words to make those foundations easier to find and practice. The site brings together focused word lists, pronunciation audio, word-family patterns, quick listening practice, and printable resources in one calm place.

Our approach
