Read, write, explain

Use the sentences for learning

Find the pattern

Ask the learner to underline two target words and say the shared spelling pattern.

Dictate one line

Read one sentence aloud. Let the learner write it, then compare it word by word with the printed sentence.

Change one word

Replace one target word with another real word from the focus list. Read the new sentence and decide if it still makes sense.

Check meaning

Ask a simple who, what, or where question after one sentence. Decoding should always connect to meaning.
